        United Way of Lake County is hiring for
       a Researcher/Data Analysis position

July 31, 2013 - Mentor, OH - United Way of Lake County is hiring for a Researcher/Data Analysis position. The position will acquire, manage, manipulate and analyze data and report/write results for the formation of a Community-Wide Needs Assessment.   

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze existing data to show overlying needs, themes, consistencies, inconsistencies, etc.
  • Acquire and abstract primary or secondary data from existing data sources
  • Identify gaps of information
  • Seek other data sources to "fill in" identified gaps
  • Develop questions for one-on-one or target group interviews, as needed to "fill in" gaps
  • Work with the Advisory Committee to complete personal or group interviews
  • Attend and report, as requested, at Advisory Committee meetings
  • Present to United Way Board of Directors, as requested
  • In concert with outside research firm, help develop a Community-wide random stratified survey
  • In collaboration with the Advisory Committee, interpret data and develop findings and recommendations that are prioritized and divided into short term vs. long-term needs
  • Gather all data collected, and complete a data report showcasing data collected, sources, methodology, etc.
  • Work in concert with the Advisory Committee and others to write a final Needs Assessment Report
 Qualifications/Skills:
  • Past experience in data research
  • Some knowledge & experience of health and human services; past research in these areas are a plus
  • Technical abilities regarding data models
  • Experience in data mining techniques and procedures
  • Ability to present complex information in an understanding and compelling manner via written or verbal communications
  • Ability to work within teams/committees
  • Having an ability to make this project a priority with time and focus
  • Experience in "connecting" data to overall themes, issues, and needs
  • Expert ability to draw conclusions from the data

 Time Commitment:
            August 2013 to January 2014

            United Way of Lake County President
            Needs Assessment Advisory Committee

Join United Way of Lake County's Behind the Scenes Tour on Tuesday


United Way of Lake County is hosting a Behind the Scenes Tour on Tuesday, July 30 and we're asking YOU to hop on the bus and come along!

Join us on this eye-opening, rare experience to see things you've never seen before as we'll visit the Lake County Jail to hear about jail treatment programs, rehabilitation as well as success stories from former inmates.

We'll also head over to the Lake County Juvenile Justice Center to hear Judge Karen Lawson discuss the trends she's seeing from local juveniles as to why they're ending up there and as to how they're being rehabilitated.

The final portion of the tour will be directed by Salvation Army as they drive us around Painesville City to  discuss one of Lake County's largest growing problems: homelessness.

We ask guests to arrive at United Way of Lake County's Mentor office (9285 Progress Parkway) at 8 a.m. for a light breakfast to go. Guests will board the bus at 8:15 a.m. and arrive at the Lake County Jail from 8:30 to 9:45; the Lake County Juvenile Justice Center from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and the final portion of the tour will be from 11:30 a.m. to Noon.

Lisa Nelson, of Right Track Benefits and Co-Chair of the 2012 United Way of Lake County campaign, is selling four Justin Bieber tickets for tomorrow night's concert at Quicken Loans Arena at 7 p.m.

The tickets are located in Section 127, Row 3, Seats 11-14. Tickets will be sold to the highest bidder with 100% of the proceeds going to United Way of Lake County.
