Way of Lake County - an independent, nonprofit organization in Mentor -
is looking to hire a staff accountant to start immediately. Essential
functions are listed below.
Accounts Receivable:
- Enter donor pledges and payments into donor tracking software program
- Track donor designations to ensure accuracy upon payment and to honor donors' wishes
- Generate donor pledge reminders in order to make sure payments are received in full to the best of our ability
- Deposit checks remotely from the office and bring cash deposits to local bank
- Accurately track funds which are collected throughout the year for various special events
- Knowledge of United Way's standards and policies regarding collections and designations
Other Duties:
- Assist the Finance Director in the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and G/L account reconciliations
- Assist the Finance Director with the audit, budget, and reports as needed
- Attend special events and meetings throughout the year
- Assist Finance Director and/or Campaign Director in other duties as assigned
Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with non-profit accounting is preferred
- Experience with accounting software, QuickBooks is preferred
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
- Well organized, attention to detail, work well in overall team environment, complete tasks without direct supervision at times, ability to multi-task and prioritize
